Researchers in the arts and humanities are driven by questions about the human condition and the stories and interpretations that help us understand them. As a land grant institution, Mizzou is focused on publicly engaged arts and humanities and the real-world impact of our collaborative and interdisciplinary research and creative work.

- Bingham Gallery is an exhibition space and living laboratory for contemporary art practice and interpretation in the School of Visual Studies.

- Missouri Historic Costume and Textile Collection collects and preserves clothing and textiles of historic and artistic value for purposes of teaching, research and exhibition. Over 7,000 dress and textile artifacts range in date from the nineteenth to the twenty first centuries.
- Immersive Visualization Lab is a virtual reality facility to support stereoscopic 3-dimensional (3D) visualization and design collaboration.
- Special collections at Ellis Library acquires, preserves, and offers for study rare, fragile, and culturally significant materials.
- Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism allows students to use the latest techniques in cinematic nonfiction to create documentaries across a wide range of subjects in one of the only undergraduate documentary journalism programs in the country.
- Mississippi River Basin Ag & Water Desk is a collaborative reporting network providing in-depth journalism and communication about water, agriculture and environmental issues across the Mississippi River Basin.
- Novak Leadership Institute features innovative courses, hands-on programs, mentors and industry partnerships to help students develop their leadership skills.
- Professional media outlets—including an NBC affiliate, an NPR station, a cross platform city magazine, a digital newsroom covering business news and a city newspaper—owned and operated by the University give Missouri School of Journalism students real-world experience while learning. Educators double as newsroom managers, offering a unique, hands-on approach to journalism education through one of the only programs of its kind.
- Reynolds Journalism Institute offers state-of-the-art resources and space to test and implement new technologies, experiment with new approaches to producing, designing and delivering news, information and advertising – and hosts conferences, training and workshops for journalists.
- The McDougall Center for Photojournalism Studies’ purpose is to preserve for archival, research and educational use collections of photographs by newspaper, magazine and documentary photographers. Further, it creates the Missouri Photojournalism Archive, providing educational programming from the archive of Angus McDougall and other individual photographers, while sustaining and expanding educational efforts of existing Missouri programs: the Missouri Photo Workshop, Pictures of the Year International, College Photographer of the Year Competitionand the Missouri Photojournalism Hall of Fame.

- Center for Applied Statistics and Data Analysis provides researchers with statistical consulting and expertise.
- College of Arts and Science Writing Fellows Program is a cohort model for setting writing goals, evaluating progress, and receiving peer feedback in addition to course buyouts to complete a high-merit project.

- Interdisciplinary Migration Studies Institute inspires collaborative research and engagement around migration and displacement.
- Afro Romance Institute studies regions enduring the historical effects of the African diaspora.
- Michael A. Middleton Center for Race, Citizenship, and Justice conducts both theoretical and applied research with the goal of improving the lives of those who are affected by disparities in education, health, and economic opportunities.
- Cambio Center leads in research and outreach on Latines, immigrant integration, and communities undergoing demographic change.
- Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy is focused on the research and teachings on political thought, history, and institutions, with a particular emphasis on the ideas and events of the American Founding and their continued global impact and relevance today.

- Columbia, Missouri features a strong local arts and culture scene including large local and international festivals featuring a range of arts including documentary film, literature, art, and music.
- State Historical Society of Missouri features materials that generate interest in and appreciation of the rich cultural heritage of the state and its people.
- Missouri Humanities is a statewide organization that engages Missourians in life-long learning in programs such as cultural heritage, civic engagement, and reading and literacy.
- Missouri Folk Arts promotes folk and traditional arts in Missouri. Folklorists coordinate apprenticeship team activities and host folk arts events.
Arts & Humanities Advisory Committee
MizzouForward is comprised of multiple advisory committees. Each committee is interdisciplinary in its composition and they review the applicant materials, conduct Zoom interviews with candidates and make recommendations to the hiring authorities.
