Open Activity Periods

Open Activity Period for Courses Taught

The open activity period in myVITA is designed to provide a dedicated timeframe and specific tasks for reviewing and updating course records. This period focuses on courses taught during the current term and begins after the first 10-week session of the semester concludes. Developed in collaboration with the Registrar’s office, this activity aims to support faculty and ensure the accuracy of records in myVITA. The timing is optimized to align with faculty schedules and any necessary work from the Registrar’s office.

Unit Course Schedulers enter the instructor information into the scheduling software CLSS (Course Leaf Scheduling System) which then feeds back to myZOU/PeopleSoft.  Courses taught information is updated and transferred every night into myVITA throughout the current semester. Once the semester is over, no changes can be made to the courses taught record in myVITA or in the Registrar’s office.

To ensure accuracy and to correctly reflect your actual teaching load in myVITA, we encourage you to review, correct and report any adjustments needed during this period. Instructions to make corrections are below. Once made in PeopleSoft, changes to system of record will display in myVITA within 24-48 hours. You can check back at a later date to see if the corrections have been made in myZOU and transferred to myVITA.

During this open activity period, the faculty member will see the notification for this opportunity in their myVITA dashboard at the top of the ‘My Tasks” section titled “MU Fall 2024 Courses Taught Review Activity Period”.  Click the link to go to the Courses Taught Review page. 1. Review the list of courses that have been automatically loaded from myZOU/PeopleSoft.  If you find any courses that you are not teaching or any that are not listed that should be, take the actions below. Please note, actions taken in this area are changes to the official record in PeopleSoft:
    • Notify your Unit Course Scheduler to correct the courses you are teaching, they will need to update the information in the CLSS system.
    • Let them know if any of the data about the course is incorrect.
  2. The list below contains the Courses Taught items that you CAN edit in myVITA only during an open activity period by clicking on the link for each course under the heading “Additional Course Data”.  Please note, actions taken in this area are changes that are internal to myVITA and will provide content to the MU Activity Report. These changes do not impact the official teaching record in PeopleSoft.
