Ken Dean

Special Advisor to the Provost

Dean’s career at MU is distinguished both for his excellence in teaching as well as for his judicious administrative leadership, especially in times of transition for the School of Law and for the university. In addition to almost 40 years as a member of the Law faculty, Dean’s leadership has included terms of service as director of continuing legal education, associate dean, acting dean, and interim dean at the School of Law. The university has called upon him as well, for leadership roles including interim associate provost, deputy provost, senior associate provost and interim provost. In these crucial roles, Dean has provided wise and steady guidance. Known for his knowledge of the university’s Collected Rules and Regulations, Dean is widely recognized by his peers for his commitment to fairness, transparency, and principles of shared governance. The author of several legal publications, Dean has served as reporter/member on several key committees for The Missouri Bar from the early 1980’s to present day; served in leadership roles in national organizations; and since 1980 served as Secretary/Treasurer, University of Missouri Law School Foundation.
