Dear Mizzou Community,
We are pleased to announce that Mizzou is reaccredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This process affirms our ongoing excellence in meeting our university mission, particularly in terms of student success outcomes. Accreditation demonstrates our effectiveness in delivering high-quality academic programs and makes us eligible for continued federal funding, including research funding, student financial aid, and other federal contracts.
In 2023, five teams of faculty and staff began compiling documentation to address HLC’s accreditation criteria via the written assurance argument that serves as our principal accreditation report. These criteria and committee members are listed on our accreditation page. The HLC then held a formal campus site visit on February 3-4, 2025, during which external peer reviewers met with stakeholders across Mizzou.
We are proud the accreditation process identified many strengths and accomplishments. The process also noted opportunities to enhance our General Education program, which is now an important priority for the office of the provost. You will be hearing more about efforts in this area in the upcoming months.
HLC accreditation reflects the excellence of our entire community. Thank you to the many faculty, staff, students, and campus leaders who represented Mizzou’s important work. We very much appreciate the efforts of the committee members who worked on the assurance argument, as well as all of you in our community who spent time meeting with the peer reviewers. Our successful reaccreditation is due in part to all of your efforts. We would also like to say a special thank you to Dr. Candace Kuby and Carrie Nicholson, who provided important leadership throughout the reaccreditation process.
We are grateful for all you do to support our mission and impact.
Sincerely,
