Authorization to Operate in the State of Missouri

The University of Missouri is authorized by the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development to operate in the State of Missouri. Please see the following link for more information: Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD).

Reciprocity Agreement for Distance Education Programs

The University of Missouri participates in NC-SARA (State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements), which is a set of agreements between member states, districts, and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate distance education program offerings. Institutions participating in SARA are able to offer educational opportunities in all 49 NC-SARA member states, as well as the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. Program Accreditation

In addition to university-wide accreditation various schools, colleges, and departments at MU are also accredited by their respective professional associations and accrediting agencies. Below you will find the status of these specialized accreditations across the university.

HLC Updates

In 2023, 5 teams of faculty and staff began preparing MU for its next comprehensive evaluation in 2025.
