COVID-19 Weekly Update (10/23)

Oct. 23, 2020

(This message was originally sent on October 23, 2020. It is being published here for preservation.)

Dear Department Chairs, Associate Deans, Deans, Vice-Chancellors and colleagues:

Our updates for this week are shown below:

#CampusClear App

As a reminder, starting this week, faculty, staff, students and visitors will need to show the “Good to Go” screen on the #CampusClear app to enter either Ellis library or the Rec Center. Download and use the app on iOs, Google Play or a web application. More locations will be added for the screenings, which will be listed on the #CampusClear page.

Fall Schedule Reminder

The Chancellor and I sent a message last week to reinforce that there are no changes to the fall schedule after Thanksgiving break. Classes that are in-person or hybrid will continue that way and final exams that are scheduled to be in-person will remain so. We encourage safe behaviors from our campus community over the break, and more information will be sent to students for those who want to remain on campus rather than travel.

Engagement Week

Virtual 2020 Extension & Engagement Week starts next Monday. The keynote speaker on Wednesday is Jones Loflin, author of “Always Growing.” Read about the MU/Extension virtual events and register here.

Adventure Club Childcare for Mizzou Employees

The Adventure Club childcare center for kindergarten through 5th grade is now open to all MU and UM System employees. They offer an all-day program for children attending virtual school and before and after care for in-person students, as well as full days when Columbia Public Schools are closed. Instructions for the application process can be found at this link.

As a reminder and as we approach November 3, 2020, election day, we want to remind and encourage everyone to vote.  The Associated Students of the University of Missouri (ASUM) has requested faculty to allow students the time they need to exercise their civic duty of voting and serving as poll workers. Please encourage faculty in your departments and colleges to do the same.

Thank you for all you do. Take care of yourself, and have a great weekend.
