Office of the Provost, University of Missouri
April 3, 2017

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Lyrissa Barnett Lidsky has been named dean of the School of Law. Our national search yielded an excellent pool of candidates, and Professor Lidsky emerged as leader among a group of strong contenders. She will begin her service on July 1.

Professor Lidsky joins MU after an impressive 23-year tenure at the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law. Most recently, she served as Associate Dean for Graduate and Non-J.D. Programs. In the past, she has served as Associate Dean for International Programs and as Associate Dean for Faculty Development. In addition to her administrative record, Professor Lidsky also brings experience with alumni relations, fundraising, strategic initiatives, and online curriculum development. She holds a J.D. with high honors from the University of Texas School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in English and political science from Texas A&M University.

I am confident that Professor Lidsky will be a strong leader for MU’s School of Law. During the interview process, she articulated a conscientious and inspiring vision for enhancing the reputation of excellence that the MU law school has earned and for increasing our success in attracting prospective law students in a highly competitive environment. I am thrilled to have her as a member of the Mizzou community.

I want to thank Ken Dean for his valuable leadership during his tenure as interim dean. I would also like to thank Kris Hagglund for his service as chair of the search committee and all the members of the search committee for their dedicated efforts in this process.

Please join me in congratulating Dean Lidsky and welcoming her to Mizzou.
